Even in modern times, women continue to risk their lives. In this article, we list some of these risky but deadly beauty routines.
1. Chemical peel
A chemical peel is a procedure in which a person’s skin is soaked in chemicals that are intended to remove the top layer of skin.
Most women opt for chemical peels when they have wrinkles, discoloration, or want a much clearer complexion.
It seems like a good idea, as it makes them look almost as if they are being reborn, but the consequences are dire: redness, scarring, swelling, bacterial, viral, and fungal infections, and heart, kidney, and liver damage. This is because chemical peels contain phenol which affects the kidney and liver.
2. Brazilian hair wax
Brazilian wax is a hair removal procedure. Many people (both men and women) love Brazilian hair wax because it shaves the hair completely and keeps it shaved for a long time, but of course it comes with some risks.
First of all, it is excruciatingly painful, but in addition to the pain, there is a risk of infection and tears in the skin. It also increases your chances of getting sexually transmitted infections.
Botox injections are used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles on the face and eyes and are a favorite of many Hollywood celebrities.
In addition to giving you a frozen look (you won’t be able to move your face or smile properly), botox can cause swelling, bruising, redness, shortness of breath, and vision problems.
Also, botox is not a one time thing, you have to top it up regularly, usually every three months.
4. Brazilian Butt Lift
The Brazilian Butt Lift commonly called the BBL is a dangerous but common procedure performed by many young women today.
The procedure for performing the BBL is scary. A metal rod called a cannula is used to suction fat from the abdomen or hips. After that, the extracted fat is grafted and treated and then surgical incisions are made on the buttocks. The fat is then injected into the buttocks.
The number of qualified plastic surgeons in Nigeria is low, but many women undergo these dangerous procedures.
So what are the risks when a woman has a BBL? Bruises, stretch marks, blood clots, fat embolism (which is fat that flows into the bloodstream and travels to the lungs), fat necrosis, and heart and lung complications. All of these risks are fatal.
5. False eyelashes
False eyelashes give women long, luscious lashes, but there are some risks.
Eyelashes are applied with semi-permanent glue and some of these glues are not allowed to be applied near the eyes.
Since your eyes are so important, they need to be taken care of properly.
Eyelash extension can cause hair loss and damage to the eyelashes. It can also cause redness, headaches, swelling, and infections.
While looking good is not a crime and does wonders for a woman’s self-esteem and confidence, no beauty routine is worth your life.
