Stacker believes in making the world’s data more accessible through storytelling. To that end, most of Stacker’s stories are freely available for republishing under a Creative Commons license, and we encourage him to share our stories with his audience. There are some guidelines and restrictions, which you can review below.

To publish, simply take the HTML code or text on the left and paste it into your CMS. By doing so, you agree to the following guidelines.

  • Attribution: Be sure to always cite Stacker as the original source of the story, and retain all hyperlinks within the republished text, whether to Stacker, our data sources, or other citations. Always include a link to the original version of the article on the Stacker website. Also, always indicate that the article was republished under a CC BY-NC 4.0 license and include a hyperlink to the following URL:

    https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/?ref=chooser-v1
. To avoid posting duplicate content, we also ask that you point the canonical tag to the original article annotated in the code.

for more information on canonical tags, and if you have any technical questions, please let us know.
  • Editions and derivative works: We invite you to post our story word for word on your website. But you can also make copy edits, change the article title, extract specific paragraphs, or put the story in your own voice. Just attribute Stacker, link back, and note the types of edits that were made.
  • Non-commercial use: Stacker stories may only be used for editorial purposes. As long as they are posted in an editorial context, you can post ads on them. However, you may not resell, sublicense, charge for access to, or re-sell our articles on any aggregation platform, including but not limited to Apple News, NewsBreak, MSN, or Google News.
  • Visuals: Images, including photographs and graphics, accompanying our stories are not included under this license, and rights to all image content must be obtained separately from Stacker or the applicable rights holder. If you are interested in becoming a Stacker distribution partner and receiving the rights to use the images that accompany a story, please email us at
    [email protected].
  • Storyteller: We include a Javascript snippet in the code so we can keep track of where our stories are posted. This is critical to maintaining open access to Stacker’s journalism. We only track the URL and the number of page views; no user information is collected.
