The fashion fraternity has made India proud with its various creations in 2022.
Every year, the nationwide fashion fraternity celebrates their individual styles around the world and creates India proud. This year, a handful of creative personalities put India on the global fashion scene once again, representing the country and its handicrafts on a larger scale.
As we say goodbye to 2022, here’s a look back at all the fashion moments created by the best in the fashion industry.
Anita Dongre
The Diwali reception hosted at the White House saw a number of Indian delegates from various professions gather under one roof. Giving a desi touch to her wardrobe was the daughter of US President Joe Biden and social worker Ashley. Keeping up with the festivities, Ashley opted to wear an Anita Dongre lehenga. The simple breezy pink set with floral prints is made from a sustainable viscose fabric that respects nature and takes its resources into account. As a sustainable designer, Anita Dongre has always captivated the West with her conscious and sustainable lifestyle.
Gaurav Gupta
This year has truly been the year of Gaurav Gupta. It all started when Cardi B (along with music artists Summer Walker and SZA), appeared in the music video remix of the hit song No Love, wearing Gaurav Gupta’s sculptural Amorphous Shapeshifter outfit. The next example was American rapper Megan Thee Stallion, who rocked the red carpet at the 94th Academy Awards in the Fantasy Biomorphic dress. Whether it’s Sarah Niles’s gold gown with 3D construction and sequin detailing on the 2022 Emmys red carpet or Kylie Minogue looking stunning in couture with space-embellished gemstones, Gaurav’s craftsmanship has been embraced with arms open across borders. And amazing things have just begun for the couturier, next year, Gaurav has been invited by the esteemed Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode as a guest member to exhibit at the prestigious Haute Couture Week in Paris in January 2023. .
JJ Valaya
JJ Valaya took over Hollywood in 2022. The couturier extraordinaire teamed up with Academy Award winner Ruth E. Carter as costume designer on Marvel’s magnum opus, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. JJ Valaya worked on 70 percent of all of Queen Ramonda’s looks in the film. Each piece was beautifully woven into the film’s plot. Thus, becoming a visionary palette where east meets west. A big moment for the designer, JJ, who has worked on two projects with Ruth, could be working on a third project in the near future.
Raul Mishra
The work of couturier Rahul Mishra has been celebrated around the world. From Ellie Goulding wearing the iconic 3D hand-embroidered Botanical suit for her upcoming album Higher Than Heaven to Chinese singer, BiBi Zhou wearing a hand-embroidered Navbhumi jacket paired with an intricately embellished sequin bustier and pants at the Weibo Movie Awards in China, Rahul Mishra has been an opportunity. -a dressmaker for celebrity styling. Celebrating India at Paris Haute Couture Week for the past eight years, we hope 2023 is just as exciting and comfortable couture for Rahul Mishra.
Riddhima Kapoor Sahni
Celebrated jewelery designer Riddhima Kapoor Sahni made her international debut as a jewelery designer and sensational for the Naem Anthony show at London Fashion Week. Naem Anthony, owner of UK-based couture label Helen Anthony, collaborated with Riddhima, where she showcased her ornate jewelery pieces from her Samara ella collection. The highlight of the collaboration is when she opened and closed Anthony’s show, making it a unique international runway debut. We look forward to more Riddhima fashion statements in 2023.
