Get ready for summer at the Thrift Shop

DELPHOS – Unless you have allergies, there is nothing like the smell of freshly cut grass for the first time in the spring season and seeing the flowers bloom again. The ground is still too cold for farmers to put seeds in the ground, but that will change soon. The Farmer’s Almanac predicts an extremely hot summer and I can’t wait for it.

Speaking of which, I can’t wait, hurry up and check out all the swimsuits we have for the hot pool season ahead. The boys will need extra swimming trunks and trunks for all the hot days ahead, which they will spend in the pool or ponds. Let me say, again, I can’t wait. We also have a great selection of shorts and t-shirts for all those summer gaming moments. Also, if you have someone in need of baseball pants, be sure to check out the designated rack we have on display. There are all sizes for all ages. If your child’s pants have outgrown and have been worn very little, consider donating them to the Thrift Shop so that other children (and parents) can benefit from your donation. We can also use ball mitts if your child has graduated to a larger size, as well as carefully worn cleats.

Recently, someone left their donated items outside our back door after hours. We weren’t there and of course it rained. Everything was ruined. Please do not leave your pretty items in the back or on the sidewalk in front of you. We need your donations! The drop-off window is open on weekends from noon Saturday to 8:00 a.m. Monday morning, and our roundtrip service is available from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Friday. Just drive to the alley behind our building, honk your horn and someone will come out and unload you. You don’t even have to get out of your vehicle. Having both services available should make it quite convenient and capable of meeting everyone’s needs. If you need to make special arrangements, please feel free to call us at 419-692-2942.

Mother’s Day is just around the corner. We have many cute items that would make wonderful gifts for that special mom. Browse the boutique for some pretty jewelry, a cute bag, and be sure to check out the Special Occasions room. There are also more gift ideas.

If you are interested in volunteering some of your time at the Thrift Shop, we would love your help. We can always use volunteers to operate a cash register, bag purchased items, be a sorter, or help in general. There is a place and time that will meet your needs. Call us at 419-692-2942 or stop by and tell someone you’d like to help. Our Volunteer Coordinator is Barb Haggard, who will be happy to set up a time that works for you! We are so grateful to our current and dedicated volunteers, and to our newest volunteers, who have been just amazing. Thank you for joining our “family” here at the Store.

Are you planning a wedding? Do you have a tight budget? We received a large donation of beautiful, never-worn wedding dresses from a bridal shop. Call us to make an appointment to try on any of these dresses. You just won’t believe the price of these beautiful dresses. For $25, you can have the dress of your dreams, and the money you save can be spent on food and decorations for your special day. It really makes our day to help someone say “yes to the dress.” Shoes, crinolines, veils and jewelry to complete the dress are all here.

Yes, there are less than 30 days of school left and summer babysitters, or parents who will have summer babysitters in their homes, should stop by and get a supply of storybooks, dress-up clothes, and toys for the kids. Pick up some pearls and high heels for that special tea party, which will keep them busy for hours.

Camping season will soon be in full swing. Do you need extra sheets, beach towels, cereal bowls, a coffee maker, cutlery or plastic cups? Whatever your need, visit us and explore. You can find it here for much less. It’s pure fun on a budget.

Happy garden growing, happy and safe planting season, and Happy Spring and Graduation Season to all of you from all of us at Delphos Thrift Shop.
