NFL preseason Week 3 results, highlights: Texans’ Davis Mills throws TD, rookie Dameon Pierce stays hot

The NFL preseason has entered its final week, and we’ve got two big games lined up for you this Thursday night. First, the Green Bay Packers make a trip to Arrowhead to play the Kansas City Chiefs, and soon after, the San Francisco 49ers and Houston Texans battle it out in their final preseason fight.

Each of the 32 NFL teams will handle this week differently. Some will play their starters a little, some will play their starters more, and some won’t at all. This week is actually more about the reserves, as the league’s coaching staff determines who will make the 53-man rosters.

Below, we’ll break down the highlights of all 16 preseason games. Keep this post bookmarked as it will be your one stop shop for everything you need to see.

To the surprise of some, the Texans’ starting quarterback took the field early in the second half. After two running first quarters in which he threw an interception, Mills led a six-play, 77-yard drive that ended with a touchdown, a 16-yard strike to Chris Moore.

This is a good bullet pass in the middle of the field. Houston has high hopes for his second year as a caller.

It’s the world of the Bushmen, we’re just living in it.

Matt Bushman is having a great night and posted 73 receiving yards on his first three receptions. He scored his second touchdown of the game early in the third quarter on a play that looked like a fumble waiting to happen.

Unmissable Interception

What at first appeared to be a great Texans touchdown reception turned into a 49ers interception in the blink of an eye. Credit to both defensive backs on this play for fighting for the ball. Samuel Womack III let go of it, and then Tarvarius Moore somehow got it back.

Whose man was that?!

Chiefs tight end Matt Bushman ran a simple corner route and it resulted in a 54-yard touchdown. The safety wasn’t looking in his direction and the cornerback thought he was passing the tight end to his teammate. This play will look ugly when the Chiefs review the film.

The Packers got off to a slow start Thursday night, going three and out on their first two possessions. However, things began to click on their third drive, as Green Bay ran 83 yards down the field in 11 plays to score the first touchdown of the game.

Texans’ Dameon Pierce continues off to a strong start

The rookie running back from Houston has been one of the stars of the preseason. After an impressive start in Week 1, Pierce did not play last weekend. Texans head coach Lovie Smith said he kept Pierce because they saw him a lot in the first preseason game. by Pro Football Networkwhich may mean it’s RB1.

Pierce played Thursday night, though, and on the Texans’ opening drive, he rushed six times for 37 yards as Houston ran 85 yards down the field in 11 plays and scored a touchdown. Who scored for the Texans? I’ll give you a guess.

‘Chorus Reunion’ honors Len Dawson

Earlier this week, the legendary Hall of Fame quarterback Len Dawson has died at the age of 87.. The former No. 5 overall pick was a Super Bowl champion, Super Bowl MVP, NFL Man of the Year and Chiefs legend. To open the Chiefs’ Thursday night preseason matchup, Patrick Mahomes took the field and lined up his offense in the famous “crown” honoring Dawson.

After the game delay penalty, which was declined by the Packers, Mahomes jogged off the field.
