PetSmart to Host Free Easter Picture Day for Holiday Pet Owners: ‘Pets Are Our Family’

It’s almost time to dress your pet with his party better as PetSmart is hosting a free Easter Picture Day event in honor of Easter 2022.

the american pet superstore will welcome pet owners and their furry, feathered or scaly friends for a free photo opportunity on Saturday, April 9, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm local time.

PetSmart stores are set to host the three-hour event across the country.

“Our pets are ours family Members and pet owners are increasingly bringing pets of all species to holiday celebrations, including Easter,” PetSmart Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Will Smith told FOX Business.

“The Easter photo event is one of our most popular in-store experiences and it’s back this year, by demand from pet parents,” continued Smith. “Whether it’s shopping for Easter costumes and toys or participating in our Easter photo sale, we bring the full holiday experience to customers to show how we’ll do ‘Anything for Pets.'”

Reservations are required to secure your pet’s spot for an Easter photo shoot. Pet owners who wish to participate can fill out a form on the PetSmart website.

For a successful holiday photo shoot, PetSmart training expert Jodie Havens has four tips she offers to pet owners.

1. Prepare your pet’s appearance in advance.

2. Play with your pet before her photo shoot or take her for a walk around the store “to get that beautiful pet smile.”

3. Attract your pet’s attention with a toy, treat, or your voice as the photographer attempts to capture their image.

4. Reward your pet for their participation with a treat.

PetSmart stores will also host a Small Pet Show and Tell approximately every half hour for Easter Photo Day attendees while they wait to have their photos taken.

During these short displays, store associates will display a guinea pig or hamster and share fun facts and pet care tips.

The large pet retailer will also have special Easter collections and holiday products for sale, including costumes, toys, treats and accessories.

In recent years, pet owners have spent more to care for and pamper their animals. According to market research published by the American Pet Products Association, pet owners spent $103.6 billion on their pets in 2020, an increase of nearly 6.7% from 2019.

A more recent survey of pet spending by Rover suggested that pet owners are spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on each pet they own.

Meanwhile, the National Retail Federation projects that Easter spending in 2022 will reach $20.8 billion with individual consumers spending an average of $169.79 on Easter gifts and gatherings.
