The Supreme Court’s recent repeal of Roe v. Wade, who set a national precedent for legal abortion, has sparked protests across the US over the past week. Now that states have full control over abortion regulation, activists have also begun mobilizing voters and leaders to pass laws that protect their reproductive rights. They have also been fighting back by raising funds for those who need help paying for abortions, connecting these people with “safe spaces,” and calling on law enforcement officials to minimize the arrest and prosecution of abortion providers and seekers.

Reproductive rights activists protest the repeal of Roe v.  Wade on behalf of the Supreme Court in front of the Augusta Judicial Center on James Brown Boulevard in Augusta on June 25.  They camped out in front of the courthouse in praise of District Attorney Jared Williams, who has vowed not to prosecute those who seek or provide abortion services.  .

“Augusta Women’s Rights Sit-in” from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, July 1, outside of Augusta Judicial Center on James Brown Boulevard. Despite the event’s name, organizers say it’s for fans of all genders.

Protesters will also gather at the common augusta on Broad Street Friday at 5 p.m. where they will make signs, then march through downtown Augusta at 6 p.m.
