The season started with a new format that featured a league and playoff round staged across the country in states like Jharkhand, West Bengal, Goa, Mizoram, Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Telangana, Karnataka and Assam. Like its previous editions, the RFYS 2022-23 football season witnessed a plethora of talents showcasing their skills, also noticed by club scouts from the Hero Indian Super League, the country’s top football league.

Speaking about the momentum for RFYS and the opportunity to encourage homegrown Indian football talent, Anoj Naik, a physical education teacher at Rosary Higher Secondary School, Navelim, who secured the Goa leg, said: “Every year we look forward to the RFYS tournament as it provides great exposure for our students. RFYS has been a great platform for Goan schools. It is rare that there are such competitions for girls where they can compete at the national level. With professionally organized competition under the watchful eye of scouts, our Goan players have a great opportunity to build their career as professional footballers.”
