The Sapphire Suite opens in Franklin as a center for women in business

The coronavirus pandemic has turned Tammie Osborne’s work life upside down.

Osborne, a healthcare technology consultant, was used to traveling for work. He often spent weeks away from his home in Franklin.

As Osborne settled into a new routine of remote work, he realized he didn’t just miss traveling. He wanted a unique space to work, especially one that wasn’t just an extra room in a house that was already full of family members.

Realizing she wasn’t alone, Osborne made that space a reality in The Sapphire Suite. The new coworking space in Franklin provides space for women entrepreneurs to be productive as they launch businesses.

“Not everyone has a dedicated area of space at home that they can create for their office,” Osborne said. “I wanted to give people a place to get out of that environment where they can be more productive and free of distractions.”

The co-working space, located at 1201 Liberty Pike Suite 229 in Franklin, hosted a grand opening on August 19. More information, including membership packages and contacts, is available online at

What are coworking spaces?

Coworking spaces, which allow individual employees and entrepreneurs from different companies to work in the same building, were first conceived as a way for employers to save office space.

As the concept has evolved, some coworking companies have incorporated business development and community support into business models, allowing entrepreneurs to collaborate rather than just work in close proximity.

That’s the approach Osborne has taken on the Sapphire Suite. The focal point of the 5,400 square foot space is a large office space with desks that allow people to work together and collaborate, even if they work for different companies. Osborne said it’s an invaluable way for current and future business owners to build organic connections with others who are “walking the same path.”
