Syracuse, NY – The Le Moyne College women’s basketball team will have a chance to earn their third straight victory in the Northeast-10 Conference on Tuesday night when they host the American International College Yellow Jackets for a 5:30 matchup. pm at Ted Grant Court.
The Le Moyne College men’s basketball team will take the floor after the women’s game for an NE10 battle of their own against the Yellow Jackets.
Le Moyne’s women’s team will enter Tuesday’s matchup with a 5-2 overall record, including a 3-1 run against NE10 opponents.
The Dolphins won two conference games in a three-game span last week during a road trip to New Hampshire.
On November 30, Le Moyne defeated the Franklin Pierce University Ravens in Rindge by a score of 77-57, and on December 2, the ‘Phins earned a 64-52 victory over the Saint Anselm Hawks in Manchester.
senior guard lytoya baker (Rochester, NY/Bishop Kearney) posted a double-double during Le Moyne’s two wins, increasing her season total to six to seven games, which is currently the highest double-double tally among all players in the Conference Northeast-10.
Redshirt – Sophomore Forward haedyn roberts (Holland Patent, NY/Holland Patent) also provided a double-double during Saint Anselm’s win, which was the fourth time this season that both Baker and Roberts had scored a double-double during the same game.
Both players are currently in the top 10 in the conference in both scoring and rebounding.
Baker leads the entire NE10 with 12.1 rebounds per game, including an NE10-best 7.9 defensive rebounds per game, while contributing 14.9 points per game to the Le Moyne cause, which is the ninth average of highest scoring per game in the conference.
Roberts is currently seventh in the NE10 in scoring at 15.9 points per game, and her 9.9 rebounds per game is fourth best in the conference.
Redshirt Freshman Guard sydney lush (Oneida, NY/Oneida) was named NE10 Rookie of the Week, according to the conference’s Week 4 Women’s Basketball Report, following two more stellar performances last week.
Lusher is playing a team-high 36.4 minutes per game in seven starts in 2022, which is the second-highest average minutes per game in the NE10.
The rookie does a lot of everything for the ‘Phins. He is averaging 12.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists (5the best in NE10), 1.7 steals (T-9the better in NE10) and 1.1 blocks (4the best in NE10) per game as one of Le Moyne’s leading guards.
Le Moyne’s other rookie shooting guard, Kaia Goode (Rochester, NY/Bishop Kearney) has also been filling out the stat sheet. In addition to his 11.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 33.6 minutes per game, Goode is providing 3.7 steals per game for the Dolphins during his first college season.
The next highest steals per game total in the conference is currently 2.8.
Through seven games so far in the 2022-23 season, American International has racked up 11.4 steals per game as a team, which is the highest average in the NE10. Le Moyne currently ranks second in the conference in steals per game at 10.3.
Five different Le Moyne players have recorded at least three steals during a single game this season, and four Dolphins are currently averaging at least 1.0 steals per game.
The American International College women’s basketball team travels to Syracuse with a 3-4 overall record, including a 2-1 record against conference opponents.
The Yellow Jackets have also won two straight conference games on the road before Tuesday’s contest.
AIC defeated New Haven by a score of 71-62 on November 30, then edged out Saint Michael’s 73-44 on December 3.
Senior guard Kayla Robinson leads the Yellow Jackets in scoring with 15.7 points per game, along with 2.6 steals and 2.7 rebounds per game.
Robinson has scored at least 14 points in each of the last six AIC games. Most recently, Robinson scored 26 points during AIC’s victory at Saint Michael’s.
American International has been without its top rebounder, junior forward Nora Young, for its two recent victories. Young averaged 11.0 points and 8.0 rebounds for the Yellow Jackets through his first five games before missing the last two.
Graduate forward Taylor Tomlinson is averaging 14.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game for AIC.
Le Moyne has won each of the past four meetings between the two women’s basketball programs, with AIC’s most recent win occurring on February 9, 2019, when the Yellow Jackets beat the Dolphins at Ted Grant Court.
